Navigate pipes, defeat two enemy tanks, and bypass an explosive-rigged building in Half-Life Part 38. Learn strategies for tanks and supply locations.
Walkthrough
- 1Approach the open end of a large pipe. A headcrab is inside; strafe in front of the pipe and quickly strafe back to make it leap to its death.
- 2Enter the pipe and proceed until you reach section c2a5b.
- 3At a path split in the pipes, turn right and go forward to drop into a watery alley-like area.
- 4Run forward and jump-crouch into another pipe entrance, then turn right past it.
- 5Go to the end of this pipe and climb up the ladder just enough for a nearby marine to see you. Quickly climb back down.
- 6Go all the way along the pipe to its other end.
- 7Use the ladder there for a quick peekaboo to agitate the nearby marines.
- 8Get back in the pipe and move to the corner near the first ladder. Wait here while the marines above kill themselves with grenades and blow up their tank.
- 9After the explosions and radio chatter stop, go up the first ladder to reach the area behind the tank.
- 10Use the assault rifle to destroy the tank's turret if it is still intact. Check for surviving marines.
- 11If marines are still alive, quickly kill the one to the left. Wait for others to come around the tank. Use AR grenades and rockets on them as they appear at the back of the tank.
- 12If they stop coming, try to sneak-shoot the rest, but you will likely be seen.
- 13Once the area is secure, look for supplies behind the tank: an ammo stash with rockets and C4 satchels, and two small open garage rooms with first aid stations.
- 14In the area in front of the tank, find assault rifle clips and AR grenades near the sandbag walls.
- 15Find the blinking red-and-green button in the small shed to the left of a large metal door. Use it to open the door.
- 16Go through the door and quicksave before approaching the corner, as a rocket-firing tank is ahead.
- 17Equip the Crossbow, enter zoom mode, and carefully round the corner. Move very slowly toward the crates ahead until you can see the very top of the rocket tank's turret over a crate.
- 18Do not move far enough forward for the tank to see you. If you mess up, quickrestore and reposition.
- 19Once in the correct spot, fire six darts into the tank's turret to make it explode. (Alternatively, it takes 12 darts and requires aiming slightly above the turret).
- 20To save darts, crouch-walk around the corner and move along the right wall, bashing crates.
- 21After bashing the second crate, move to the explosive crate, stand up, and run past it on its right side.
- 22Turn left and run for the sandbag wall just to the left of the tank.
- 23Quickly crouch-walk between the tank and the sandbag wall and wait for the tank to blow itself up. Adjust your position if its rockets are not damaging it. Stay crouched and behind the sandbag wall.
- 24Alternatively, stand next to the tank and bash its turret with the crowbar until it explodes. You should not take damage. You can also shoot out its turret with the pistol.
- 25Return to the first tank's area to resupply on bullets if needed.
- 26Bash non-explosive crates on the street to find supplies, including ten hand grenades.
- 27Walk to the large hole in the wall near the tank. Toss five hand grenades through the hole to land near the marines in the lower area past the sloping sand bank.
- 28Jump-toss several snarks through the hole and wait a few seconds.
- 29Jump through the hole and crouch-walk forward to the lower area with the assault rifle equipped.
- 30Shoot any surviving marines.
- 31Look for supplies in the lower area, including five hand grenades.
- 32To exit the lower area, go to the end with the sandy slope and climb up.
- 33To get back through the wall hole, run up the leaning wall piece next to it and jump through.
- 34Squeeze between the right side of the tank (your left) and a sandbag wall, or jump-crouch onto the sandbag wall.
- 35Move on to reach a large metal door that will slide up as you approach. Go through it and wait for it to close to reach section c2a5c.
- 36In section c2a5c, get out the assault rifle and wait for the second metal door to open.
- 37Move forward and press against the left wall.
- 38Look right for a vortigaunt to appear and quickly shoot it in the head.
- 39For the alien grunt on the left, quicksave, then toss a hand grenade where it is without being seen.
Tips
- Marines usually won't throw grenades unless they have line-of-sight with an enemy.
- The strategy of luring marines to kill themselves with grenades can be very hard to survive.
- It's hard to squeeze between the tank and the sandbag wall, but the tank won't fire when you are that close.
- You shouldn't be damaged by bashing the tank's turret with the crowbar, but crouching and shooting it with the pistol is a safer alternative.
- The headcrab in the pipe will not actually die from leaping out, but it should.
