Part 57

Shoot the vortigaunt inside the cave, then another to the right of the entrance.

Enter the cave, go left, and kill a third vortigaunt near the back exit.

Collect the ammo canister near the back exit.

To reach the healing pool: either jump to the rotating rock and then the pool, long-jump directly to the pool, or exit the cave, turn right, use the up-n-down machine's raised ground to jump onto the hill, and run to the pool.

Return to the cave entrance after healing.

Reenter the cave, turn right, and enter the supply room.

Crouch-walk to sneak-shoot the vortigaunt hiding to the left of the supply room.

Collect the supplies: four health packs, three armor batteries, and two ammo canisters. Note: Three alien controllers will appear outside after entering the room; deal with them before picking up the ammo canisters.

Leave the supply room and crouch-walk to the cave entrance.

Take down the first alien controller hovering between two rocky spires using fast altfire hornets.

Go to the cave's back exit and crouch-walk while looking out to spot another controller. Kill it with altfire hornets while staying inside the cave. If it moves, use regular hornets and dodge orbs.

To defeat the third controller, equip the crossbow, slowly move backwards out of the cave's back exit while looking up and right, and fire two darts into its head before it sees you.

Collect the ammo canisters from the supply room if you haven't already.

Find the large cave entrance to the left of the two up-n-down machines (slightly right of the tentacle).

At the back of this cave's entry area, turn left and hop up rocks to find a tunnel leading to a big healing water cave. Watch out for barnacles.

Return to the cave entry area and look left of the rock-blocked passage for a narrow ridge leading to a hidden supply area. Jump and crouch-walk up the ridge.

After looting the secret supply area, go back down the ridge.

Look down the rock-blocked passage and use altfire hornets to break the vines at the other end.

Quickly run back outside and up onto the nearby large hill as the gargantua approaches. (Alternatively, run to the hill with the vort cave and stand near the fallen spire, but this is less effective.)

Wait for the gargantua to see you, then move on your hill to lure it to the area with spiky plants.

Position yourself on the hill so the gargantua stays near the plants. Shoot the plants nearest it with altfire hornets to ensure they swing.

Dodge the gargantua's sonic stomp-blasts and wait for the plants to destroy it.

Glitch Note: If the gargantua is glitched and cannot pass the rocks near the cave entrance, destroy it with grenades, rockets, or the gluon gun. Set up tripmines and/or C4 satchels beforehand if desired.

Alternative Gargantua Strategy: If the gargantua doesn't go near the plants, lure it by going near the fallen spire and then quickly returning to the hill.

Enter the gargantua's lair and find supplies in a small cave in the back wall.

On the opposite side of the lair, past yellow crystals, crouch-jump up the side of the smaller of two big rocks under a large opening.

Crouch-walk onto the highest point of the bigger rock, then drop to a rocky ledge.

Jump across to the edge of the two-tentacle area.

Use altfire hornets to kill the nearby barnacle.

Wait for the two tentacles to settle down.

Crouch-walk to the large break in the path around the tentacles. Quicksave.

Optional: Drop down to find an armor battery and three sets of hand grenades if you are low on grenades.
