Tips:

To damage Gonarch's sac, aim slightly below it so the hornets swerve up and hit the target.
The acid attack can be avoided by standing so you can only halfway see Gonarch, though this is difficult as it moves frequently.
For non-Source versions of Half-Life, avoid the strategy of firing up at Gonarch from below using the hornet gun from the healing pool, as it may cause Gonarch to become invincible. Keep a backup save if you attempt this.
