Walkthrough
  1. 1
Head upriver to the bridge and follow the Fox north along the river to a waterfall. Drop down and follow the Fox across rocks to the Jade Hills Inari Shrine. Climb up to get back to the path.
  2. 2
Return south to Kechi Fishing Village and find the Hidden Altar on the dock. Bow to it.
  3. 3
Look east across the river to the cliff wall and swim to the climbable holds. Climb to the top.
  4. 4
Continue east, climbing more rocks until you find Hyoshi Survivor Camp behind bamboo. Speak with any Peasants if you need Side Tales.
  5. 5
Continue east out of the camp, follow the path south, and keep left at the split to find Sensei Ishikawa's Dojo.
  6. 6
Investigate the Dojo: examine the dried blood on the mat, the arrow in blood, and the bloody footprints.
  7. 7
Before following the footprints, go left to the cliff edge and grab the Vanity Item: Aozora Headband.
  8. 8
Follow the footprints to Sensei's home and enter through the shoji for a cutscene with Sensei Ishikawa.
  9. 9
Follow Sensei Ishikawa as he tracks his student Tomoe. You will encounter Mongol soldiers; use a Standoff or fight them.
  10. 10
Speak with Ishikawa and follow him to an abandoned campsite. Examine the rice bowl, blood splatter, and Tomoe's quiver.
  11. 11
Speak with Ishikawa again, then follow him until he gives you a Half Bow.
  12. 12
Practice with the bow by shooting the candles out of the three lanterns ahead.
  13. 13
Follow Ishikawa to Fort Nakayama. Survey the beehives, barrels, lanterns, and archers for a plan. Wait for the gates to open and Ishikawa's signal.
  14. 14
When Ishikawa signals, shoot the identified points (beehives, barrels, lanterns, archers). Use the quivers of ammunition if needed.
  15. 15
After the first group of Mongols is dealt with, a second group will charge out. Take care of them.
  16. 16
Refill your arrows and climb down. Storm the gates and fight the Mongol soldiers and Leader. Killing the Leader unlocks the Water Stance.
  17. 17
Take out the four archers on the rooftops.
  18. 18
Follow Ishikawa to find Tomoe's pendant in a pool of slain prisoners.
  19. 19
Search the fort: follow the blood trail to the archery targets and inspect the arrows.
  20. 20
Enter the long building on the north side and inspect the kimono in the personal quarters.
  21. 21
Enter the other building through the shoji and examine the scroll on the table to learn Tomoe was teaching the Mongols.
Tips
  • Hidden Altars are not marked on the map and cannot be tracked by wind, birds, or foxes. Any Hidden Altar found will count towards the trophy for bowing to 10 of them.
  • Ranged weapons have significant arrow drop. Practice leading moving targets and understanding your range. You cannot hold the charge indefinitely; you will fire automatically after a few seconds.
  • Killing or observing Mongol Leaders unlocks new combat stances (Water, Wind, Moon). Switching stances changes your sword fighting form and allows new techniques.
  • Water Stance unlocked.
  • Vanity Item: Aozora Headband.
