Learn how to take down the tough Armored Kantus in Gears of War 3. This guide covers its rolling attack and strategies for subsequent encounters.

Alright, so you're heading downstairs into that area where the last group of Locust came from. Get ready, because you're about to run into a new, tougher enemy: the Armored Kantus.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
When you first encounter the Armored Kantus downstairs, immediately switch to your Torque Bow. Regular bullets just won't cut it against its armor. Keep wailing on it with the Torque Bow. It fights mostly like a regular Kantus, but watch out for its new rolling attack – it's surprisingly fast and can cover a lot of ground.
  2. 2
Once you defeat the first Armored Kantus, don't relax just yet. Another one will come in from the back area, this time with an Elite Theron who's packing a Torque Bow. You'll have to take both of them down.
  3. 3
After that, prepare for an even tougher fight. A third Armored Kantus will show up, accompanied by an Elite Theron (also with a Torque Bow) and two Serapedes. This is where things get hectic.
  4. 4
The spawns for the Armored Kantus and Theron are randomized, coming from one of the four doors in the area. Keep moving, use cover, and prioritize targets. Try to take out the Serapedes quickly if you can, as they can be a nuisance. Focus on the Armored Kantus and the Elite Theron, using your Torque Bow whenever possible.
  5. 5
Once all enemies are finally dead, check your Tac/Com for the objective marker and head towards it. This will wrap up this long chapter.
Tips
  • The Torque Bow is your best friend against the Armored Kantus. Make sure you have one and plenty of ammo before engaging.
  • The rolling attack can be hard to dodge. Try to anticipate it and roll out of the way. Strafing might also help.
  • When facing multiple enemies, try to create some distance or use cover effectively to manage the threat. Don't get cornered.
  • Pay attention to the Elite Theron's Torque Bow; it's just as dangerous as yours.
