Your Fire Emblem Heroes walkthrough for Chapter 13: In Search of Truth. Learn enemy positions, recruit Guy, and defeat the boss Boies to seize the gate.
Alright, welcome to Chapter 13, folks! This one's called "In Search of Truth," and our main goal here is to Seize the gate. We've got a couple of new faces joining us right off the bat: Matthew and Serra are with us from the start. Keep an eye out for Guy, though – he's an enemy initially, but we can recruit him using Matthew. Let's get this done!
Enemy Overview:
- 2 Archers (Level 2) with Iron Bows
- 1 Archer (Level 3) with an Iron Bow and a Vulnerary
- 1 Archer (Level 4) with a Steel Bow – this one hits hard, so watch out!
- 1 Brigand (Level 1) with an Iron Axe
- 1 Mercenary (Level 2) with an Iron Sword
- 4 Soldiers (Level 2) with Iron Lances; one of them drops a Vulnerary.
Reinforcements:
- On Turns 2 & 3, expect a Brigand (Level 2) with a Hand Axe from the fortress near the bridge.
- On Turns 4 & 5, two more units will appear from the southern fortresses: an Archer (Level 2) with an Iron Bow and a Soldier (Level 2) with an Iron Lance.
- On Turn 8, the fortresses near the castle will spawn Soldiers (Level 6) with Iron Lances.
Boss Data:
The boss is Boies, a Knight at Level 13. He's got 27 HP, 12 STR, 8 SKL, 4 SPD, 13 DEF, 7 RES, 1 LUC, and 4 MOV. He's wielding a Steel Lance and will taunt you with, "You'll find that I'm a bit tougher than those fools you faced before!" He's definitely a step up from the last few guys.
Items to Grab:
- Torch: Found in the upper village.
- Mine: Found in the lower village.
- Vulnerary: Can be stolen from an enemy.
- Vulnerary: Dropped by one of the soldiers.
Strategy:
- Opening Moves: Start by sending Lowen down to engage the brigand and Hector. Have Oswin and Matthew nearby to support. Meanwhile, send Bartre to the left to deal with the snag there. Marcus can hang back for a bit; he's not immediately needed. Keep a close eye on that strong Archer with the Steel Bow.
- Heading South and West: Make your way generally south and west. Keep Lowen in front, with Hector and Matthew close behind. You need to be careful to stay out of Guy's attack range for now, but still try to pick off other enemies as you advance.
- Recruiting Guy: The key here is to get Matthew into the fortress located to the south and slightly to the right. Position him so he's just outside of Guy's attack range, but close enough that he can initiate the recruitment conversation. This might take a few turns to set up safely, so be patient.
- Village Visit: While all this is going on, have Bartre visit the northern village to pick up that Torch.
- Boss Assault: Once Guy has been successfully recruited, it's time to move your main party in on the boss, Boies. If you have Hector equipped with the Wolf Beil, he can take Boies down in just two turns.
- Healing Support: Make sure Serra is positioned to heal any damage taken during the fight.
- Gear Up: Before you go all-out on the boss, it's a good idea to purchase an Iron Sword. This way, Guy won't have to waste his Killing Edge on basic enemies and can save it for tougher foes or the boss.
