Location: You can find Astel, Naturalborn of the Void in a secret area accessible via a coffin teleporter south of the Lake of Rot. This teleporter is located on the waterfall west of the Grand Cloister site of grace in the southern region of the Lake of Rot. Astel is found behind a fog wall in this secret area. This boss is part of Ranni the Witch’s questline.

Astel’s Attacks:

1. Laser Beam: One of Astel’s most common and powerful attacks, used immediately upon entering the boss arena. It has a long range and can one-shot players with low vitality.
2. Pincer Attack: Used when you stay close to Astel’s face. His pincers may glow with electricity for increased damage. This is a slow attack and can be avoided by maintaining distance.
3. Tail Whip: Astel uses his long, spiky tail to attack when you are at a distance or behind him. This attack can be used in quick succession and can knock you down.
4. Hand Slam: When you are close to Astel’s abdomen, he will raise his multiple arms and slam them down, creating an area of impact that can knock you over and deal damage.
5. Mini Purple Explosions: Astel conjures small balls of purple magic, swiping them to create a trail of purple smoke. After a short delay, several explosions will occur within the smoke. These are not super damaging but can knock you down.
6. Grab and Eat: A less frequent attack used when you stay too close to his front. Astel will swipe with his hands; if not dodged, he will grab you and take bites, which can one-shot you if you have lost any health.
7. Teleporting: Astel will occasionally teleport to the other side of the arena. He glows purple before vanishing and reappearing. The impact of his teleportation can knock you prone and deal damage if you are nearby.
8. Meteor: Performed rarely when Astel is at 30-50% health. He teleports away and casts a spell causing massive purple meteors to crash down. Getting hit by a meteor can one-shot you or knock you down, leaving you vulnerable to subsequent meteors. This attack lasts about 5 seconds.

Strategy:

Astel, Naturalborn of the Void is a challenging boss due to its varied and high-damaging attacks. Be prepared to dodge frequently, especially the initial laser beam which can one-shot players with low vitality.

Ranged players will need to be particularly cautious of Astel’s long-range abilities that can knock you prone and potentially kill you in one hit. Staying on guard and ready to dodge is crucial.

Melee players may find it frustrating when Astel teleports away frequently. It is best to keep agile and circle Astel’s body. Jump attacks can be effective for hitting his head, but avoid staying directly in front of his face to prevent the grab attack.

Using a Mimic Tear can be beneficial as a tanky distraction. However, try to stay out of the line of fire for Astel’s laser beams and tail whips.

Astel does not have set phases but will use the powerful meteor attack around half health or less. When Astel teleports away at this health threshold, be prepared to increase your distance to better dodge the incoming meteors.
