Guide to completing the A Father's Name quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition's Jaws of Hakkon DLC. Learn where to find Finn, the Fade-Touched creatures, and make your choice.

Alright, so you've picked up the "A Father's Name" quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition, specifically within the Jaws of Hakkon DLC. It all kicks off when you chat with Gyda Myrdotten. You'll find her chilling in a cave way up in the northeast corner of Stone-Bear Hold. She'll tell you about some special rites for Caldan Enversen, but his son, Finn, couldn't get the offering ready. Guess that job's on you now!

First things first, you need to find Finn. Head southwest from Gyda's cave and then go up a short ramp. You'll spot Finn hanging out in a little house. Have a word with him to get the full scoop on what's going on. Once you're done chatting, head back outside and find the Master of the Hunt. He'll let you know that three special Fade-Touched creatures will do the trick for the offering. After that, your map will get updated with three locations where you can hunt these beasts down:

  • Swamp Kuldsdotten - Fade-Touched Gurgut
  • Varsdotten River - Fade-Touched Giant spider
  • Basin Floor Camp - Fade-Touched Lurker

Now, these Fade-Touched creatures are no joke. They've got a ton of health and some seriously nasty attacks. Let's break them down:

  • Fade-Touched Gurgut: This one's pretty straightforward, no extra mobs to worry about. Just make sure you're not standing in front of it when it unleashes its Area of Effect attacks. Stay clear of that frontal cone!
  • Fade-Touched Giant Spider: This spider's got a few more tricks. Watch out for its web root and poison paralyze attacks – staying far away as a ranged character or keeping to its flank as a melee fighter should help you avoid them. When you get its health below half, it'll try to escape, and you'll have to deal with a swarm of smaller spiders while it makes its getaway.
  • Fade-Touched Lurker: Similar to the Gurgut, but with a couple of key things to watch for. It has a powerful frontal AoE attack, and its tail swipe can be a one-hit kill, so keep a close eye on its movements to dodge. When you first engage it, there will be a bunch of lesser lurkers running around – take care of them first before focusing on the big guy.

A lot of the really good loot from these fights can be found on corpses scattered around their lairs. Don't forget to explore the areas thoroughly and grab everything before you move on!

Once you've successfully hunted down all three Fade-Touched creatures, it's time to head back to Stone-Bear Hold. Here's where you make a choice: you can offer the pelts to either Finn or the Master of the Hunt. Whichever you decide, your final task is to go back and speak with Gyda to wrap things up.
