Visit Gamlen and Gamlens Greatest Treasure (Optional)

Hey there! Before we dive too deep into Act III, there's an optional bit of business you can take care of involving Gamlen. It's a good chance to pick up some gear and start a little side quest.

First things first, you'll want to head down to Lowtown. There are a few shops there where you can grab some new equipment if you're running low on funds or just want an upgrade. Here's what you can find:

• Apparel Shop: Look for the Corrupted Acolyte’s Staff (11g 08s 80c), Ring of the Wounded Coast (6g 72s 00c), and Concealer’s Sash (7g 07s 28c).
• Lirene’s Fereldan Imports: Check out the Sword of the Antaam (7g 53s 48s), Amulet of the Tempest (6g 72s 00c), and Awakened’s Might (6g 36s 88c).
• Trinket’s Emporium: You can snag a Pretty Little Thing (7g 49s 76c), Belt of the Silent Sisters (8g 00s 64c), and a Rune of Frost (40s 32c).
• Weaponsmithy: They've got the Red Jenny Backbiter (17g 49s 93c), Shadow’s Claw (6g 60s 40c), Crosscut Composite (22g 93s 20c), and the Qunari Sword (3g 00s 00c).
• Armor Store: Grab the Longshadow Hauberk (8g 66s 88c), Cap of Kings (7g 84s 07c), and Quick Hands (9g 00s 59c).

Once you're done shopping, make your way to Gamlen's House. Chat with him to wrap up the initial part of this optional quest. While you're talking, be sure to read the A Crumpled Note he gives you. This will kick off the next step: Gamlen’s Greatest Treasure.

For this next part, you'll need to head over to Darktown. Your objective is to find a fellow named Mekel. Once you locate him, a fight will break out. After you've dealt with the enemies, make sure to loot Mekel's body. You'll find an item called The Wallop Mallet.

With the mallet in hand, return to Gamlen. He'll explain what the Wallop Mallet actually is, and that's pretty much it for this little detour!
