Alright, let's tackle the Dissent quest in Dragon Age II. This one's optional, but it's a good one to get done. First things first, you'll need to head down to Darktown and find Anders at his clinic. Have a chat with him and agree to help him out with whatever he's got going on.

Once you're done talking, step outside the clinic. Right by the steps, you'll see some deathroot – grab that. Then, make your way south towards the Gallows Dungeon. Inside, you'll want to search around the bones. Take the top path first; you'll find a pile of bones, a crate, and some spindleweed. After that, backtrack and head south, past a corpse. You'll run into a hostile group here, so be ready to fight. Make sure you loot the Fine Dwarven Trousers off their bodies. Keep going east to another corpse, and then further south to a pile of bones and a deep mushroom.

Now, you'll enter the Gallows Dungeon proper. You'll need to defeat all the enemies inside. Keep an eye out for another corpse further south, but if you head west, you'll encounter a trap - complex. Be careful with this one; disarming it or just tripping it will trigger an ambush with spiders attacking from all sides. Once that's dealt with, head back north along the western side and hook into an alcove to find a chest - complex. Continue south, and you'll see two sets of bones. Keep following the path until you run into more Lyrium Smugglers. Head up the steps and check the small cubbies for a chest. Right at the top of the stairs, you'll be greeted by two corpses and a fight.

Keep pushing up the stairs, looting the corpse and two bone piles along the way. As you finally reach the end of the path, things get intense. Anders goes a bit postal, and you'll be thrown into combat. After the fight, Anders is still under the influence of Justice. You'll need to talk him down. Depending on how you handle the conversation, you can gain high Friendship with him, or you can do the opposite.
