The Bone Pit (Optional)

Alright, so you're looking to tackle The Bone Pit as an optional quest in Dragon Age II? Smart move, there's usually some decent loot and lore to be found off the beaten path. Before we dive in, make sure you've wrapped up any business in Lowtown. Head over to the Elven Alienage in the northeast – you'll want to grab that codex update there. While you're at it, find the book about Alienage Culture near the big tree. If you happen to be back in Lowtown at night, specifically where you found Samson earlier, keep an eye out for some Spindleweed tucked away in a corner. And don't forget the Foundry District; there's a pile of rubble just begging to be looted. Once you've cleared all that, head back to Hightown and have a chat with Hubert.

Hubert will ask you to check out what's going on at The Bone Pit. Agree to it, and then it's time to leave Hightown and make your way there. Once you arrive, check the rubble first. Then, you'll want to examine Arintal’s Remains, which is marked as the “Bearded Beast.” Doing this will kick off the actual quest. Follow the path forward until you run into a group of Looters. Take them down, and then search the corpse and the barrel nearby. Keep an eye out to the south – you should spot a pile of bones and the marker for The Bone Pit itself. Continue heading east; you'll find another pile of bones and a book that tells you about Nevarra. Keep going east, and when the path splits, take the northern route. You'll find a crate waiting for you. Now, backtrack south a bit to find The Enigma of Kirkwall, some elfroot, and more rubble. Before heading into The Bone Pit Mines, make sure to loot the barrel back in the central area.

Once you step inside the Bone Pit Mines, prepare for a fight. You'll need to battle your way through a bunch of Dragonlings. Keep pushing forward, and you'll eventually face a Dragon. After you've dealt with the threats, be sure to loot the pile of bones, check out the refined lyrium, and grab whatever you can from the rubble. Continue south, heading up the steps. Don't forget to loot as you go!
