Discover how to generate and utilize the powerful Vampire creature in Core Keeper. Learn its unique traits, immortal abilities, and strategic advantages for your dungeon.
Alright, let's talk about one of the absolute powerhouses in the game: the Vampire! These guys are undead, but don't let that fool you – they're incredibly strong and can become nearly unkillable. You'll want to get your hands on these as soon as you can.
Vampire Traits:
- Immune to poisonous gas.
- Gain the Fly ability starting at level 2.
- Become immortal from level 3 onwards. If they do get killed, they'll just return to your lair and drop one experience level.
- They're top-notch scavengers.
- Excellent trainers and researchers.
- They cannot manufacture items.
- You can generate them infinitely! (More on that in a bit).
When a Vampire hits level 3, they become immortal. This means a level 10 Vampire is essentially also a level 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, and 3 Vampire all rolled into one. Their abilities will disappear if their level drops below the required threshold, though. The real game-changer is at level 4: if their 'flee' option is active, they'll teleport back to your lair when their health gets low. This makes them almost impossible to permanently defeat.
Vampires level up pretty fast early on, but once they hit level 3 and gain immortality, they need significantly more experience to level up compared to other creatures. It's probably a side effect of becoming immortal. Definitely do NOT put them in the Temple; it really annoys them. Slapping them or torturing them isn't a great idea either, and they can get grumpy if you hold them in your hand for too long. Also, watch out for their hatred of Warlocks. If they're in the same room, it's usually best to just get rid of the Warlock to keep your Vampire happy.
How to Get Vampires:
To get a Vampire, you first need to build a Graveyard. Then, you'll need about 8-10 dead bodies to be dragged there by your Imps. Once they've all decomposed, a Vampire will rise from the graves. Here’s a neat trick: you can make your Imps expendable by sacrificing them. Then, generate a Vampire, kill it, and repeat the process. This way, you can get the 10 carcasses needed for a Vampire, and it allows you to generate an infinite number of them, though it can be a bit tedious.
