Alright, so you're tackling the Upper Route in Command & Conquer: Red Alert. It can be a bit trickier than the lower path, but the core idea is the same: build up your strength on your island until you're ready to absolutely flatten the Soviet base on their island. Just a heads-up, they've got more firepower over there than on the lower route's island, so you'll want to bring a serious army. We're talking 30 or more tanks to really make a dent.

Before you launch your big attack, make sure you've got some destroyers out there to protect your transport ships. Since the beach you'll be landing on is pretty close to your starting point, you can actually use one group of destroyers to cover both your transports and your naval yard. Once you've got your tanks, the transports to carry them, and a spy (don't forget the spy!), load 'em up. Head for the beach directly north of where you start.

Once you land, move a little northwest. That's where you'll find the Soviet base. Be ready for a tough fight – their front line is usually bristling with Tesla Coils and flame towers. Plus, they've got a ton of Mammoth tanks, heavy tanks, V2 rockets, and infantry. Your first priority should be taking out those Tesla Coils, then focus on the Mammoth tanks. After that, push into their base and destroy the construction yard and the war factory. Doing this means if your attack fails and you have to try again, they won't be able to rebuild much before you're back.

If you manage to survive that initial assault, your next goal is to crush the rest of their base, but leave the command center standing for now. Once the base is clear, send your spy into the command center. Then, grab Kosygin (he's the VIP you need to extract), put him in a transport, and fly him back to your island. The mission wraps up as soon as that chopper touches down safely.

Note: This mission has two distinct parts. The first is the ground assault we just covered. The second part involves fighting inside the Soviet command center with just a few infantry units. It feels like two missions rolled into one, but the game counts it as a single mission.
