Learn about the Meta-System in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, including Enhancement Passives, Meta-Skills, and Sentinel Upgrades. Spend Meta-Chips wisely.
The Meta-System in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim offers ways to spend Meta-Chips to enhance your power in combat. This system is divided into three major sections: Enhancement Passives, Meta-Skills, and Sentinel Upgrades.
Enhancement Passives are abilities that do not require any action or cost to use once purchased. The benefits are always active. Investing Meta-Chips in the terminal's passive abilities is highly recommended, as they unlock new armaments and increase your resource acquisition rate.
Meta-Skills are powerful abilities that affect the battlefield and are used with your Meta-Gauge. You can acquire a variety of Meta-Skills from the terminal at reasonable prices, though only a few are truly useful. The Meta-Gauge fills after you earn approximately 500 Meta-Chips from killing enemies. The chip value from enemies varies by wave, but defeating 4 medium kaiju or 1 large kaiju will always fill the Meta-Gauge.
Sentinel Upgrades allow you to directly enhance a Sentinel’s base statistics. There are five categories of upgrades, each with an enhancement level from +0 to +999. To upgrade, select a category and hold down the X button to input chips until the enhancement level above the category name increases. These statistical changes are very small and relatively expensive. It is generally advisable to focus on Sentinel Upgrades only after acquiring all desired armaments and Meta-Skills.
- Prioritize purchasing Enhancement Passives that unlock new armaments or increase resource acquisition.
- Experiment with different Meta-Skills to find the most effective ones for your playstyle.
- Save Sentinel Upgrades for later, as they offer minimal stat boosts for a high Meta-Chip cost.
