While described as "All-rounders", G2 units are actually short to medium range combatants. Unlike G1 units that proactively attack kaiju groups, or G3 units that control crowds and snipe targets, G2s are designed to intercept kaiju that have bypassed other defenses and are heading towards the terminal. The power of unlockable unique armaments for G2 pilots is significant and should influence your chip spending decisions for these units.
Heavy Knuckles
This is a powerful melee attack that costs 0 EP (Energy Points). It deals 1700 POW x2 damage without any enhancements. Further enhancements increase its power and reduce the wait time. While it rivals the G1s’ Rush Attack in power, it lacks the setup movement, making it less effective for hunting kaiju across the map. It also only allows for a maximum of two punches, limiting its effectiveness to killing two kaiju per use. The G2 unit itself has limited mobility tools and a slow move speed, making it unsuitable for chasing down kaiju across the map, especially in later waves where kaiju can quickly overwhelm the terminal from multiple directions. The two-punch limit suggests this ability is intended as a last-ditch option for high-HP kaiju that reach the terminal. Enhancing Heavy Knuckles is generally not recommended, especially since G2s have better options for this role.
Arm-Mounted Machine Cannons
This attack sprays bullets in a forward-facing cone and also costs 0 EP. Bullets randomly strike targets within the cone, hitting the first target their visual projectile contacts. Once a target is destroyed, subsequent bullets can pass through to hit targets behind it. The spray angle is crucial; aiming at distant targets results in reduced damage as fewer bullets will hit. To maximize damage, you need to be at point-blank range or the target must be large enough to fill a significant portion of the targeting cone. The targeting of bullets is not truly random and is likely to be evenly distributed across the cone, with every part of the cone being hit by at least one bullet. These 0 EP multi-bullet attacks are not true area attacks nor are they efficient large kaiju killers. Arm-Mounted Machine Cannons fires the most bullets with the lowest individual damage. Fully enhanced, the total damage is moderate but underwhelming and does not restore EP efficiently. The G2's slow speed prevents point-blank engagement, and its lack of armor penetration causes significant damage fall-off against enhanced kaiju. Defending is often a better EP recovery method. Juro uses this ability early as enhancing it is a prerequisite for one of his unique armaments, but other pilots do not typically use it.
Multi Rocket Launchers
This attack launches rockets into an area, hitting both air and ground targets. The damage is mediocre and does not increase with enhancements, though it will slightly rise over time as Sentinel ATK (Attack) increases. Enhancements primarily widen the radius and increase the range at which the attack can be deployed, specializing it for engaging swarms of small, unarmored kaiju. Due to its static damage and lack of armor piercing, it struggles against blue (enhanced) medium kaiju. However, it remains a useful area attack with no minimum range and can serve as a missile interception tool. Two G2 pilots have unique armaments that significantly outperform this ability.
Sentry Gun
This ability deploys a support unit that attacks using its own version of the G3 Railgun. It is described as the most action-efficient ability in the game.
