The Heat of the Day (Part II)

The Crypt in the Fields: Drink a Cat potion and enter the crypt. Defeat the Cemetaur. Use Aard to destroy a wall to the east and defeat the Alps. Continue south, then up a rubble-ramp to a corridor. Fight through Ghouls, Alghouls, Graviers, and Cemetaurs. Destroy another wall to the south to find and defeat Ureus. Loot the nearby trunk. Backtrack to the first destroyed wall.

Objectives and Rewards: Bringing the Cemetaur Head to Tobias Hoffman yields 7000 XP and 800 Orens.

Tunnel Exploration: Head north to a four-way branch. Going south leads to an empty room. Going north leads to another four-way. The west room contains a lootable corpse. The north room contains the "Circle of the Barren Lands". Back at the first four-way, head east to a room with a trunk and Grigg’s Santon. Loot the Santon to obtain the Cat Harness.

Objectives and Rewards: Obtaining the Cat Harness yields 2000 XP.

Exposing Alina: Go to the "Ruined Mill". Use stairs and ramps to reach the roof. Defeat the "Midday Bride" to obtain the fifth and final "Shard of Alina’s Mirror". Loot the corpse to the east.

Objectives and Rewards: Obtaining all parts of Alina’s Mirror yields 2000 XP.

Alvin's Advice: After obtaining the shard, Alvin appears. Geralt must choose how to respond to Alvin's complaints about his mistreatment. The dialogue options are:

• “Destiny isn't everything. We are masters of our own fate.” (Neutral Geralt)

“Your visions are a gift, not a curse. It’s up to you to use them for good.” (Order-aligned Geralt)

“Keep your gift a secret. The lives of the gifted are rarely easy.” (Scoia-tael-aligned Geralt)

Objectives and Rewards: Giving Alvin advice yields 1000 XP.

Fixing the Mirror: Take "Alina’s Broken Mirror" to either the Elven Craftsman in the Lakeside area or the Blacksmith in Murky Waters. Both charge 100 Orens. Travel to a new area and return to find the mirror fixed.

Lakeside Exploration: Traveling to the Lakeside area allows exploration of the western edge. Find a lootable corpse and a basket near the lake.

Returning the Mirror: With the fixed "Alina’s Broken Mirror", return to the fields and find the "Midday Bride" at the Raspberry Patch. Talk to it. Alvin will appear. Geralt decides to consult others.

Grateful Griggs: Visit either the Lady of the Lake or the Healer/Abigail. Visiting Abigail is recommended for proximity and to advance the "Small Problems" quest.

Advancing "Small Problems": Tell Abigail you have the Cat Harness. She instructs you to place it in the Santon near the bridge, wait a day, and check for a gift.

Advancing "The Heat of the Day": Your actions in Chapter 1 affect this quest.

• If Abigail died: You cannot put Alina's spirit to rest due to "innocent blood" on your hands. Another dead person must inform Alina of her death.

If Abigail is alive: Dandelion can assist in helping Alina's spirit find peace, as spirits are vulnerable to poetry.

Completing "Small Problems": Go to the "Collapsed Bridge" and find the Santon to the northeast. Hand over the Cat Harness. You will immediately receive a return gift.
