    Talk to Vincent Meis and agree to fight the "Muscleman" in a fistfight. If you lose, Vincent will still allow you to proceed.

    Receive the Witcher's Silver Sword and potions.

    Enter the sewers and meet Siegfried, a Knight of the Flaming Rose. He offers to team up to hunt the Cockatrice. Accepting his help will make combat easier.

    Explore the sewers, fighting Drowners and Ghouls. The "Cockatrice Lair" is marked on your map.

    If you lost the fistfight, you can find the dead "Muscleman" in the sewers, who drops a Rusty Sword.
