Triss initiates several new quests in Chapter 3: "A Posh Reception," "Identity," "All the Kings Men," and "The Source." Before tackling these, it's recommended to grind experience to strengthen Geralt. Use the Teleporter in Triss' House to return to the Mages' Tower in the Swamp Forest. While Kalkstein is there, it's best to avoid him for now to save the experience from "A Mysterious Tower" quest for later.

The Swamp Forest now features Kikimores and Kikimore Warriors. At night, Archespores are more common, and Cemetaurs have replaced Alghouls. The primary hunting ground for this chapter is the Swamp Cave.

Obstacles on the way to the Swamp Cave include Royal Wyverns led by Moa on Wyvern Island, and a pack of Wolves led by Voref near the Fireplace where Alghouls were previously found. Alternatively, you can travel east to Gramps' House, then south to Brickmaker's Village, and finally west to the Swamp Cave. Killing Cockatrices for their experience might be a worthwhile detour.

The Cockatrice Grind:

Inside the Swamp Cave, Cockatrices are decimating the Wolves. Each Cockatrice provides 825 experience, which is more than Kikimore Warriors even before level adjustment. At level 15, you might earn around 700 experience per Cockatrice, and even at level 50, you'll still get 575. The cave can hold up to ten Cockatrices, though you'll typically encounter three to four at a time.

Upon reaching level 30, you'll earn Gold Talents. Prioritize purchasing Strength (Level 5), Dexterity (Level 5), Fast Silver Styles, and any other talents that enhance grinding speed. A decent Igni sign is highly recommended. With Intelligence (Level 5) and Endurance (Level 5), along with their associated upgrades, you can defeat groups of Cockatrices with just two Igni castings, using less than half your Endurance.

Aim to reach at least level 35 to become a strong Witcher, which will also grant you valuable Gold Talents. The grinding process involves entering the cave, killing Cockatrices and any remaining Wolves, then leaving. Since Cockatrices don't respawn as quickly as Graviers and there's no Fireplace inside the cave, exit and rest at the nearby Fireplace for twenty-four hours. Be prepared for encounters with Drowners, Bloedzuigers, Drowned Dead, and Kikimores outside. Wolves will also respawn in the cave. To minimize encounters with swamp monsters between runs, schedule your rest to wake up in the morning. Diligent looting of enemies can also yield rewards.
