Need help with Parvati's companion quest, Don't Bite the Sun, in The Outer Worlds? Follow our walkthrough to get aromatic ablatives, dustback casserole, and sweetheart cakes.
Alright, so Parvati's ready to make a move on Junlei, which is awesome! But first, she needs your help with something a little… personal. Turns out, her hygiene could use a boost, and she's asked you to take her to Groundbreaker to pick up some 'bath supplies.' Honestly, after helping her navigate so much of adult life, this shouldn't surprise you. It's a bit of a fetch quest, but hey, the XP is good!
First up, Parvati wants some advice from Gladys, the black market dealer. Head back to Groundbreaker with Parvati, find Gladys in her office at the Rest-N-Go, and tell her, "My engineer’s looking to do some deep cleansing. Wants to impress Chief Junlei." Gladys will be surprisingly helpful and offer you a choice of grooming packages. Pick one – we went with Rose-ish – and Parvati will cover the cost.
Next, Parvati needs some specific food items to woo Junlei: dustback casserole from Stellar Bay and sweetheart cake from Cascadia. Both of these are on Monarch, which you'll ideally want to visit after getting a Stellar Bay Navkey. You can buy one from Gladys or get one by working for the Board after the quest Long Distance. If neither of those work out, you can always land at the Cascadia Landing Pad, but be warned: it's a dangerous trek across hostile Monarch.
Acquiring Dustback Casserole
Of the two food items, the dustback casserole is the easier one. Head to Stellar Bay on Monarch. From the southwestern gate, go northeast (away from the gate) and you'll find two buildings. The one on the right is an unmarked restaurant where you'll find Chef Raymond. Talk to him about the dustback casserole. He'll tell you it's out of style and hard to get ingredients for. The casserole itself will cost you a hefty 3,000 Bits. However, if you have an [Intimidate 55] skill check, you can haggle the price down to 2,000 Bits. Pay up and get your Terra One Dustback Casserole.
Acquiring Casscadian Sweetheart Cakes
This one's a bit more involved than the casserole. To get to the southern part of Cascadia where the sweetheart cakes are, you'll need to travel on foot from the eastern side of Monarch to the western side. You can't reach it from the northern half where the Landing Pad is. Basically, you'll be following the road south and west from Stellar Bay towards Cascadia. It's a long journey, passing through Amber Heights and Fallbrook, and you'll face a lot of marauders, raptidons, and mantids along the way. Be prepared for a fight or a hasty retreat!
Once you finally reach Cascadia, you'll need to clear out the marauders hanging around the abandoned city. After you've dealt with them, find a bar on the western end of the city. Inside, search the counter behind the bar to find the Sweetheart Cakes.
Parvati’s Fancy New Clothes
After all that, Parvati's got her supplies, but she realizes she needs something new to wear for her date with Junlei. So, guess where you're going next? Byzantium, to buy her some new clothes. This is really turning into an expensive outing for you!
Head back to Jolicoeur’s Haberdashery in Byzantium. Talk to Jolicoeur (or her successor if you did the quest Makes Space Suits, Won’t Travel) and ask for an outfit for Parvati. This will set you back a whopping 6,000 Bits. Seriously, you could be buying vital ship components for the price of this outfit! Thankfully, you can use a dialogue check – either [Persuade 65] or [Intimidate 65] – to lower the price to a still-outrageous 3,000 Bits. After you've spent a small fortune, Parvati will finally be ready for her date.
