Your guide to defeating Phytops, the Barbed Menace, in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Learn its patterns, weaknesses, and strategies to clear Floor 7.

Alright, you've made it to Floor 7 (2)! Let's get this done. First things first, you'll want to swing across the gap. Keep an eye out for pots; smashing them might give you some much-needed health. Once you're done with that, pull out any thorns you see and then head outside. The boss is waiting for you at the very top, but there's a bit of climbing to do first.

Just keep swinging your way up. You'll eventually spot a tentacle with an eye on it. Your goal here is to pull one of the thorns off that tentacle and then toss it directly at the eye. This will make the eye disappear for a bit. Keep swinging upwards, and you'll find another tentacle. Use the same strategy: pull off a thorn and throw it at the eye. Once that's done, you'll need to use a propeller to fly up to the arena where the real fight begins.

Boss: Phytops, Barbed Menace

So, this boss looks like a big, barbed green octopus. Its head is covered in some kind of purple gunk, and it likes to shoot that gunk at you. To make things trickier, it uses its barbed tentacles to block your path on both the left and right sides. Remember what we did before? You need to pull a thorn off one of the tentacles and then throw it at Phytops' head. This will clear away some of the gunk, revealing an eye underneath. Keep pulling off thorns and tossing them at the head until the eye is fully exposed. Once it is, pull off one more thorn and hurl it straight at the eye!

Phytops will let out a screech and then rest its head against the side of its pool. This is your chance! Head over there and slash at its eye as much as you can. After you've landed your hits, it'll retreat back into the water, and then four tentacles will emerge. Two of them will try to trap you, while the other two will whip at you. Your priority is to avoid their attacks. Eventually, Phytops' head will resurface. You'll need to repeat the process of exposing its eye. As Phytops takes more damage, it'll start using its whipping tentacles while you're trying to expose its eye, making the fight a bit more challenging. Keep at it, and you'll eventually defeat it!
