Learn how to defeat Bowser in Super Mario World's final battle by throwing Mecha-Koopas and dodging his attacks.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Bowser throws two Mecha-Koopas; jump on one to flatten it.
  2. 2
Pick up the flattened Mecha-Koopa and throw it upwards so it lands on Bowser.
  3. 3
Repeat this process, as Bowser moves and may require multiple throws to hit.
  4. 4
After a successful wave, Bowser disappears and fire rains down; stand between falling flames or avoid them.
  5. 5
Princess Toadstool appears from the clown car, throwing down a mushroom (you can hold one in your item stock), and the next wave begins.
  6. 6
WAVE 1: Bowser swings side to side and throws two Mecha-Koopas. Jump on one, preferably at the side, and throw it up to hit Bowser. Repeat for the second Mecha-Koopa.
  7. 7
WAVE 2: Bowser hovers above you, turns upside down, and drops a large ball. Stand still while he hovers, then run to dodge the ball when he turns, and jump over it. After several balls, he throws two Mecha-Koopas; jump on one, throw it upward, and repeat for the second.
  8. 8
WAVE 3: Bowser bounces along the ground towards you and throws Mecha-Koopas. Dodge the bouncing by running under him when he goes upward. Jump and grab Mecha-Koopas away from Bowser, then throw them when he approaches. If Bowser bounces on a crushed Mecha-Koopa, it disappears but another will be thrown soon.
  9. 9
After defeating the last wave, Bowser is defeated.
Tips
  • When playing a completed level, press Start then Select to exit.
  • To re-enter a conquered Castle or Fortress, press L and R.
  • Stay on the Special world map for a while to hear the classic Super Mario Bros. music.
  • After defeating Bowser and before the Princess appears, press and hold Up until the credits play for an alternate animation.
  • To reuse a P-Switch after stomping on it, use Yoshi, eat the P-Switch's base, and spit it out.
  • Try getting stuck in rotating blocks until they stop to fall and die (a glitch). Star World 1 with a cape is a good place to try.
  • To get unlimited lives, go to the Top Secret Area (unlocked via Donut Ghost House secret exit). Exit and re-enter to hit the Yoshi block repeatedly for 1-Up Green Mushrooms while Yoshi is present.
  • Get easy lives fast in Groovy and Awesome (Secret Area levels) by using a found Starman to run into enemies.
  • 1-Up Trick in Vanilla Secret 2: Reach the halfway checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death), then the pit of Spinys. Hit the second rotating block from the left for a silver P-Switch. Go back before the halfway marker, between the two purple pipes. Use the P-Switch, collect coins from pipes, then run left to collect silver coins from transformed koopas for many lives. Exit and repeat.
  • 1-Up Trick in Forest of Illusion 1: Reach the halfway checkpoint, then go to the items block and collect the Starman.
