Walkthrough
- 1First things first, head to the castle. Once you're inside, you'll see an information block. You can read it if you want, but the important thing is to jump and press Up to climb onto the fence.
- 2Now, carefully make your way right along the fence. You'll need to dodge the Koopa Troopas that are on your side. For the ones on the other side, you can just punch them with the [X] button as you pass.
- 3Keep going right until you reach a P-Switch with some blocks above it. Don't worry about the P-Switch; it doesn't do anything here. The middle block, however, has a hidden mushroom inside, so grab that if you need it!
- 4Continue right on the fence. There's a tricky part over the lava where a fireball will shoot out, so be ready to dodge. Later on, you'll see some squares that look like doors. Hitting these allows you to go to the other side of the fence, but honestly, it doesn't really help much, so you can probably skip it.
- 5At the very end of the fence, there's another information block. Again, you can hit it if you like, but the main goal here is to touch the checkpoint tape. After that, enter the door.
- 6You'll enter a new area where the screen moves automatically. Giant crushers will be coming down from the ceiling. The best way to avoid them is to stay on the far left side of the screen.
- 7Keep moving forward, and you'll pass a flying block that contains a mushroom, and also an expanding and contracting yellow block. Just keep to the left to stay safe.
- 8Finally, you'll reach a red door. Go through it to face the boss of this castle: Iggy!
Boss Fight: Iggy
This fight takes place on a platform that tilts left and right. Your goal is to knock Iggy into the lava on either side.
- Iggy will throw fireballs at you, but they're pretty easy to dodge. Just keep moving!
- When you jump on Iggy, he'll move down towards the side the platform is currently tilting.
- Here's the strategy: Wait for the platform to tilt one way. Jump on Iggy once or twice to push him towards that end. Then, let the platform tilt the other way. Once it tilts back to the first side, hit him off into the lava!
You did it! You've beaten the first castle in Super Mario World! After the ending sequence, you'll head back to the world map. Your next destination is Donut Plains.

- Don't waste time with the P-Switch; it's a red herring in this level.
