- 1Head to the maze where you previously found red coins.
- 2Navigate past the Bob-ombs to the end of the platform.
- 3Locate the blue coin switch and a Heart Spinner (a device to recover health).
- 4Use precise wall kicks to ascend to the high ledge above.
- 5Talk to the Pink Bob-omb on the ledge; he will open the cannon.
- 6Run to the end of the ledge and step on the blue platform to descend.
- 7Use a Long Jump (a move where Mario leaps forward further than a standard jump) to land on the spinning platform below.
- 8Use the Heart Spinner to recover any damage taken upon landing.
- 9Jump onto the ledge to the left.
- 10Step on the magic carpet and follow the same procedures used to obtain the first star of this course until you reach the ship.
- 11Go to the back of the ship and jump into the cannon.
- 12Aim the cannon directly at the center of the rainbow circle visible in the distance.

- 14Clutch a striped pole on a small platform where a Purple Bob-omb is located.
- 15Defeat the Purple Bob-omb.
- 16Break open the yellow '!' Block to claim the star.
