Star 5 - Big Boo's Balcony - Big Boo's Haunt

First things first, head into the mansion and make your way up the steps in the main hallway. You'll want to get onto the balcony area. Look for the door on the far right – that's our target. Go through it.

You'll enter a room with a single bookcase. Right in front of the doorway you just came through, there's a small platform. Above that doorway, you'll see a high ledge. To get up there, stand on that small platform, face the door, and then quickly turn and jump. You want to perform a high side somersault. As you do this, try to do a wall kick off the doorframe, angling the control stick towards the door as much as possible to grab the ledge. It might take a couple of tries, but once you grab it, climb up and go through the door you find there.

This next room has a blue coin switch. Go ahead and slam it to collect the blue coins – they're worth a star if you get them all! Now, find the Boo poster at the bottom of the room. Approach it, and a Boo will pop out. Take care of it.

With the room clear, head through the doorway to your right. You'll emerge onto a small balcony where Big Boo is waiting. This is the main event! Be careful here, because if you fall off this balcony, you'll end up back at the very start of the level. The strategy is to get behind Big Boo and punch him repeatedly. After about three hits, he'll be defeated, and the star will appear on the rooftop.

Now, from this balcony, look to your right. You should see a section of the rooftop that sticks out a bit, with a small ledge on it. You'll need to perform a running long jump to reach this protruding part of the rooftop. Once you land on it, you're in a safer spot and can relax a bit so you don't fall off.

From this ledge, hold down the Z button to crawl. Slowly make your way across the rooftop until you reach the ledge that has the '!' Block and the star on it. Grab that star!
