There are two primary monorail design methods in SimCity: the Single Zone Method and the Mixed Use Monorail (also referred to as Dual Rail). The Single Zone method is preferred by some as it allows you to place Industrial Zones on the outer edges of the map, dedicating the central, most valuable areas for Residential Zones. Residential Zones' growth is influenced by their accessibility, so this strategy provides them with ample options. However, Industrial Zones are known to decrease Land Value. The Mixed Use Monorail method also offers value, particularly for Residential Zones due to their travel accessibility, but requires careful management of Industrial Zones to mitigate their negative impact on Land Value.
