Master SimCity's toughest challenges! Learn strategies for the Las Vegas UFO Attacks and Freeland scenarios to rebuild cities and achieve Megalopolis status.

Alright, so you've conquered the first six scenarios in SimCity and are ready for the real challenges? These next two are unlocked once you've proven yourself. They're a bit different, so let's break 'em down.

First up is Las Vegas U.F.O. Attacks, set in 2096. This one lasts for 10 years, and your main gig is to rebuild the city after it gets hammered by aliens. Now, the good news is the U.F.O. attacks don't start right away, giving you a breather to build up your city's defenses, especially fire coverage. You'll deal with several invasions over the decade, but that very first one is a doozy, going on for almost twenty attacks. The later ones are shorter, usually around three attacks each. To keep your city safe, try building outwards from the map's edges. This way, if an attack does happen, it's less likely to hit your core buildings. Also, don't forget to upgrade that road system – more trains will definitely help!

As for Freeland, kicking off in 1999, this scenario is a bit of a marathon with an infinite duration. Your goal here is to transform this completely waterless patch of land in the US Midwest into a Megalopolis, meaning a population of 500,000. You might think having no rivers, lakes, or oceans is a bummer because you can't build on waterfront property, and there are no Presents either. This means you'll have to rely purely on your city-building skills and land development prowess! The key here is to build slowly. If you flood the market with too much property too fast, you'll run into trouble. Build smart and steady, and you'll hit that Megalopolis target no sweat. A pro tip for Freeland: use the existing forests and parks. They're great for boosting land value, which in turn attracts better buildings and, of course, more citizens!

Just a heads-up, there's a known bug, especially on the NES prototype, where you can actually keep playing a scenario city even after its duration is up. If you save and then reload a scenario city, it seems to erase the win/loss triggers. This lets you
