Tips
  • Always be mindful of where melee weapons are, as your current weapon can break unexpectedly.
  • At certain points in Silent Hill: Downpour, you will lose your weapons and items. There is little point in hoarding everything you find.
  • Fleeing from enemies is preferable to fighting. Your ending is dependent on this. When encountering groups of enemies, it is always a good idea to run.
  • Enemies can be incapacitated (prone on the ground but alive). You can then choose to continue or get above them and execute them.
  • Fleeing or leaving enemies alive is considered the "Good" action, while killing and executing them is the "Bad" action.
  • Murphy will regenerate his health up to 40%. Keep this in mind before healing to make your heals more effective.
  • You can lock on to an enemy with the L2 button.
  • You can manually reload firearms from your inventory by hovering over your ammo and hitting reload.
  • To kill an incapacitated enemy, you can shoot them or hit them with the butt of your weapon to save ammo.
  • Only use weapons when necessary. Hitting a wall will damage your weapon. Consider weapon choice; an axe is better than a bottle.
  • Exploring is often more profitable for finding items compared to fighting enemies.
  • On HARD puzzle mode, there are NO on-screen interaction prompts for picking up or using items. Some prompts remain, such as circling the analog stick to turn a valve or shaking it to get a Screamer off your back. This mode makes the game much harder, especially for first-time players.
  • To achieve the Trophy 'Silent Hill Tour Guide', you MUST kill enemies to complete one of the side-quests (The Bank Sidequest). There is a separate trophy for not killing anything, forcing a choice between them. You do not need to complete 'Digging Up The Past' for the 'Silent Hill Tour Guide' trophy.
