Discover how to unlock and obtain legacy items and DLC in Rocket League. Learn about base cars, common vehicles, and platform-exclusive Battle-Cars.
Rocket League features a variety of car bodies, also known as Battle-Cars, which are the primary method of player customization. The game includes ten standard car bodies, with four available by default and six unlockable through gameplay. These default cars are classified as Base rarity and are assigned to one of six Body Types. Psyonix introduces new Battle-Cars through Blueprints, the Item Shop, and Rocket Pass, bringing the total to over 75 vehicle bodies.
Base
Most Common bodies can be unlocked by completing matches. As of Patch v1.79, the default cars are Octane, Breakout, and Merc. Previously, the default cars included Octane, Gizmo, Road Hog, and X-Devil. Painted variants of Common bodies were introduced on August 3, 2017, obtainable via the trade-in system, and are classified as Import rarity. Breakout, Octane, and Merc are granted to all players from the start, while other cars are unlocked via New Driver Challenges.
