How to Obtain Magearna

Learn how to get the Mythical Pokémon Magearna in Pokémon Legends: Z-A! Follow our guide to complete Vinnie's and Jett's sidequests and gather Mega Shards.

Alright, so you're looking to add the awesome Mythical Pokémon Magearna to your team in Pokémon Legends: Z-A? It's a bit of a process, but totally worth it! You'll need to have made some good progress in the game first.

Here's the lowdown:

• First things first, you absolutely must have caught Rayquaza. This happens during the postgame DLC mission called “The Greatest Gift.” No Rayquaza, no Magearna, sorry!
• Next up, you need to help out Vinnie. He's got a sidequest for you, specifically Side Mission 190, “A Mimikyu for My Cutie.” You'll find him inside Quasartico Inc. To even start this, you'll need access to a 3-star Ghost-type Hyperspace Wild Zone. Just a heads-up, not every one of those zones will actually have a Mimikyu in it, so you might have to do some searching!

Once you've ticked those boxes, head back to Quasartico Inc. again. You should spot Jett and Vinnie hanging out near a peculiar-looking ball. This triggers Side Mission 195, “Restarting Magearna.” Now, for the big task: you'll need to collect a whopping 999 Mega Shards. Don't worry, you can find these by smashing those glowing mega crystals scattered all over Lumiose City and the Hyperspace Lumiose areas. Hopefully, you've been grabbing them as you go!

Complete that mission, and bam! You'll be rewarded with a Level 80 Magearna, plus its very own Mega Stone, Magearnite. Pretty sweet deal, right?
