How to Beat and Catch Zygarde

Learn the prerequisites, battle Trainer L, and master Zygarde's three phases to capture the legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Includes weaknesses and strategy.

1. Complete the main storyline.
2. Enter the post-game and defeat a round of the Infinite Royale.
3. Beat the previous post-game main quest for Xerneas and Yveltal.

After completing these, the 'To Keep the World in Balance' Main Mission will begin. You must first defeat Trainer L, who has a strong team of Pokémon.

Trainer L's Pokémon:

It is advised to build a party with counters for Trainer L's Pokémon. An Electric-type Pokémon is crucial for Mega Gyarados, and an Ice-type is recommended for Noivern.

Catching Zygarde:

Once Trainer L is defeated, head to Wild Zone 20. Zygarde will be located in the center of Prism Tower. Interact with it to initiate the boss battle.

Zygarde Boss Battle:

Zygarde is a challenging, multi-phase boss. Throughout the fight, it remains weak to Ice, Fairy, and Dragon-type attacks. Mega Clefable is a strong recommendation due to its immunity to Dragon-type moves and its ability to learn Ice Beam and Ice Punch via TMs.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Zygarde is in its 'good boy' form, characterized by high speed and the use of the Dark-type move Crunch.
2. Phase 2: Zygarde becomes stronger and static in the room. Boulders will fall from the sky, requiring constant movement. It will also use more Dragon attacks and a green light effect that follows the player, necessitating careful positioning and Pokémon swaps.
3. Phase 3: Zygarde transforms into a powerful, fast form with an area-of-effect (AOE) attack around its model, featuring different ring layers. Players must dodge these layers and avoid a giant laser beam fired from outside the arena, as well as green dragon energy attacks from the floor.

Upon defeating Zygarde, you will capture it. You will also receive the Zygarde Cube, which allows you to switch between Zygarde's different forms.
