How to Catch Marshadow

Alright, so you want to snag Marshadow in Pokémon Legends: Z-A? It's a bit of a process, but totally doable once you know the steps. First things first, you absolutely *have* to have finished the postgame DLC mission called “The Greatest Gift.” If you haven't caught Rayquaza yet, that's your first hurdle!

Once that's out of the way, make your way to the east side of Jaune Sector 11. You know, near the Jaune Sector Pokémon Center? Look around there, and you should spot a guy dressed all in black. He's the one who kicks off Side Mission 192, which is called “The Stealthy Shadow.” Chat him up!

Your next move is to head to the battle court. It's west of the Centrico Pokémon Center, which is north of Prism Tower. This is where things get a little time-sensitive.

You need to hang tight and wait for the shadow of Prism Tower to line up perfectly with the center of a red Poké Ball shape that will appear on the ground. This happens right around sunset, when the game gives you that little heads-up saying “The sun is getting low…” Keep an eye out for an “Investigate” prompt; that’s your cue you're in the right spot.

As soon as that shadow hits the sweet spot, press A. You'll get a quick cutscene, and then bam! A Level 80 Marshadow, which is a Fighting and Ghost type, will show up ready to battle. Just use your best catching strategies – Ultra Balls are usually a solid bet, and if the fight drags on, Timer Balls can be a lifesaver. Catch it, and you'll wrap up that side quest. Good luck!
