Defeat Ishida in Nioh 3 Part 61 by staying close and countering his sword combos. Learn his moves and rewards.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
At the start of the fight, Ishida will use a Wind Slash that destroys some of the cave. Move to his side to deal damage.
  2. 2
Stay relatively close to Ishida to discourage him from using long-range attacks like "Wind Fury" and "Izuna Slam".
  3. 3
Bait out his sword combo attacks by staying just out of range, then counter when possible.
  4. 4
When his Yokai Gauge (a meter that fills up, indicating readiness for special moves) depletes, you can perform "Finishing Moves". He often falls down after these and may refill his Yokai Gauge with "Izuna Summon".
  5. 5
Be aware that Ishida can enhance his moves with Wind, which lowers your attack rating if you are hit.
  6. 6
Use the slope in the area for cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) from ranged attacks, utilizing the rock formation to block or jump off of.
  7. 7
When Ishida's health gets low, use your Living Weapon (a temporary power-up).

Boss Moves:

  • Sword Combo(s): Ishida performs up to five combo slashes with moderate reach. He also has a forward circular slash that can chain into other sword attacks. Stay just out of reach to counter.
  • Izuna Summon: This is a status effect where Ishida summons Izuna (his Guardian Spirit) to enhance his sword with wind. This lowers your attack if you get hit and may fill his Yokai Realm gauge (an area-of-effect that buffs enemies).
  • Grab Lunge: Ishida lunges forward to grab you. If successful, he will slam you and follow up with two sword slashes. Dash away to avoid this. Be cautious when getting up after being grabbed.
  • Izuna Slam: Ishida throws his Guardian Spirit, Izuna, at you. If it grabs you, it will lift you, deal wind damage, and slam you down. This attack can deal significant damage, so keep your health well over half. This move can be spammed. Roll evade to avoid it.
  • Wind Swipe / Wind Fury: When powered up with his wind sword, Ishida can swipe to send out a wind wave. He can also perform "Wind Fury", a combo that sends four wind waves at you. These attacks can drain your HP; roll away to avoid them. "Wind Fury" can also be spammed.
Tips
  • Staying close discourages long-range attacks.
  • Counter his sword combos after baiting them out.
  • Use the environment for cover and evasion.
  • Keep your health high, especially to survive the "Izuna Slam".
  • Be prepared to roll evade "Wind Fury" and "Izuna Slam" as they can be spammed.
  • Utilize your Living Weapon when his health is low.
  • Several revealing cutscenes (plot progression).
  • New Spirit Guardian: "Possessed by Izuna via spirit division."
  • Unlocked Sub-Mission: "The Mountain of Remorse".
  • Unlocked Dojo Mission: "A True Ninja".
  • Unlocked Dojo Mission: "A Greater Harmony".
  • Unlocked Twilight Mission: "Evil in the Ether".
