Boss Encounter: Fake Tachibana Muneshige

Fake Tachibana Muneshige is a test of your dueling skills, especially if you have invested in Ninjutsu/Onmyo skills like Power Pills, elemental abilities, or magics such as Lifeseal, Devigorate, or Weakness talismans. The Lifeseal Talisman is particularly effective, allowing for many Grapple and Finishing Move attacks. Tachibana can be quick, using combos, ranged attacks, and stat buffs. If you have fought Revenants (tough enemies that respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death)) throughout Nioh 3, consider this a harder, longer Revenant fight. Tachibana must manage his Ki and has limited attack range. Make him attack, expend his Ki, then use your own grapple attacks and finish blows. Dodge away and heal when necessary. The two pillars in the room can be used for a breather or to heal.

Boss Moves:

• Sword Combos: Basic sword combo attacks including high, mid, and low attacks, a two-hit swirling attack, and the "Swallow's Wing" attack. Expect standard sword combos and special skills like Iai Quickdraw and Quadrisect.
• Arrow Barrage: Tachibana rolls back, draws his bow, and fires three arrows in a spread pattern. Blocking these shots and re-engaging is recommended.
• Iai Quickdraw: Tachibana's version of Iai Quickdraw. Dodge out of range or block if you have enough Ki, then attack quickly.
• Inner Strength: Tachibana's Katana glows as he moves it in a circle, granting him an attack buff. Use Devigorate Talisman to counter, or attack him out of the animation if you are close and fast enough.
• Quadrisect: Tachibana sheathes his sword and draws it in a flurry of strikes, finishing with an outward strike. Block if you have enough Ki, otherwise dodge away. Rolling to the side with a low stance is best if too close.

Tips:

• Replenish your items (ninjutsu / onmyo magic) before the boss fight.
