Part 27 walkthrough for Gears of War, including strategies for the General RAAM boss fight and finding Cog Tags CT30.
Walkthrough
- 1Do not press the green button inside the small area. Kill Wretches as they appear; ignore Reavers.
- 2Head inside and prepare for a Wretch fight.
- 3Go halfway down the cart and look right to the last window before the wall. Kill the Wretch that bursts through.
- 4Go to the very last window on the left and wait for a Wretch to come through.
- 5Look up at the ceiling hole. Aim your reticule (crosshair) at the ground underneath the hole. Kill Wretches as they fall through.
- 6Wretches will also come from the entrance side. Head down that end and aim at the ground underneath the ceiling hole. Watch your back for Wretches coming from the exit end.
- 7Head outside. You have forty seconds to reach the end of the cart. Run (not Roadie Run) and shotgun any Wretches in your way.
- 8When you reach the end, the cart will automatically fall, potentially killing Wretches. Kill any remaining enemies.
- 9Head inside. Make two rights to find grenades at the end of the hallway.
- 10Press the green button and head through the door.
- 11In the outside area, press the green light on the outside.
- 12When you reach the end of this cart, turn around and look at the small building on this cart. Head inside and press the green light.
- 13Inside this building are the very last Cog Tags (CT30).
- 14Head inside the ammo room.
INSANE NOTES:
- The Troika/Reaver segment can be challenging. If your health gets low, get off the Troika and fall back down the ladder immediately.
- Alternatively, use the Torque Bow. It generally one-shots Reavers if you hit them. A Torque Bow is at the bottom of the ladder and respawns. There is no decent (cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects)) at the top of the ladder, so grab the Torque Bow, defeat as many Reavers as possible, and retreat down the ladder when your health is low. Pick up ammo and repeat. You can retrieve your Longshot afterward.
BOSS: GENERAL RAAM (GRAAM)
Preparation:
- In the ammo room, do NOT press the button yet.
- Weapons available: Lancer (A), Longshot, grenades, ammo box (B), Torque Bow (C).
- Strategy One (Legit): Switch your shotgun for the Torque Bow. Switch any other weapon for the Longshot if you haven't been using it. Max out grenades and ammo. Wait for the Torque Bow to respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death) and pick it up. You should have 12 Torque Bow ammo, 24 Longshot ammo, 30 Magnum ammo, and 4 Grenades.
- Strategy Two (Cheap): Before the fight, pick up a Torque Bow and a Lancer, maxing out ammo for both, along with 4 grenades. Then, press the button.
The Fight:
- Watch the cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically).
- Strategy One (Legit): Take cover in front of where you start. RAAM is covered by Kryll and takes no damage while covered. He uses a portable Troika. Kryll leave sometimes to attack you, either sent by RAAM or on their own, especially in light. Explosions can make them leave.
- Blind fire the Troika for a few seconds to charge it before peeking out. Aim and fire quickly. If RAAM is stuck, get back in cover and switch to your Longshot. Do not reload the Torque Bow yet. Pop out and shoot him with the Longshot. Active Reload and shoot again. Repeat until Kryll return to him. While in the light, you are safe from Kryll. Switch back to the Torque Bow and Active Reload. Repeat this process.
- On higher difficulties, if RAAM reaches your cover spot, go around it (not over) and head straight down the middle. Hop over a small wall, take cover, and repeat the process. A Troika behind you is useless.
- Strategy Two (Cheap): Head to the most northeast box on the cart you start on. Take cover and move as far right as possible.
- Randomly fire the Lancer to attract RAAM towards you. If RAAM walks to the opposite side of your cover box, poke your head out. If he rarely shoots, he is stuck. Do not leave cover, as this may unglitch him.
- Blind throw a grenade at the solid railing behind RAAM; it will land at his feet. Blind fire the Lancer at his face; you should get a clip in.
