Part 18

Complete walkthrough for Part 18 of Gears of War, including Downpour and Evolution chapters. Learn strategies for fighting Lambent Wretches and the Corpser boss.

Walkthrough:

1. Downpour (A32): Proceed straight through the woods to a building. After a cutscene splits the team, equip a shotgun or magnum and move forward, picking up ammo. Turn left to fight Lambent Wretches, using the magnum from a distance or shotgun up close.
2. Continue through the area, encountering more Lambent Wretches. Hang left around the next corner, then right at the second building. On the long dock at the end, find Cog Tags (CT19).
3. Make your way around the building. The elevator has no power. Go to the next building on the right and press the button to restore power.
4. Return to the elevator and ride it to the top. Cross the planks, run across the rooftop, and hop through the window to complete the chapter.
5. Evolution (A33): Choose a hallway and press the button; the door will jam. Go to the other hallway and press its button to proceed.
6. Continue through the hallways until a cutscene shows Wretches killing everyone. Head left, press the button on a door, and watch a cutscene where a Stranded with a shotgun joins your team.
7. Head right from where you entered, wait for the Stranded to open the door, and proceed around the walkway. The Point of Interest is Baird and Cole in the sewer system.
8. Head through the opened door. Around the first corner, a door to the left leads to an ammo box. Be warned: a Wretch attacks upon exiting if you entered.
9. Follow the Stranded down the stairs. He will fall through the floor and die. Your objective is to cross the unstable floor. Boards will randomly fall; be careful and back off creaking boards quickly.
10. On the far right side in the corner, find Cog Tags (CT20). If you fall, climb the ladder quickly, break down the door, and proceed cautiously.
11. Continue through the room, picking up ammo if needed. Find a Lancer on the floor; consider picking it up on lower difficulties, but keep the Longshot on Insane/Hardcore.
12. Hang left around a pillar. When glass shatters, turn around and return to the previous room. A cutscene will trigger Lambent Wretches invading.
13. Back against the wall in this room, equip your shotgun and wait. Dom may assist. Shoot any Wretch entering the doorway. This is crucial on Insane to prevent being surrounded.
