Overworld: Elemental Fangs

Prepare for the final boss in Final Fantasy III! This optional sidequest guide helps you get the Leviathan summon and gain valuable EXP before facing Bahamut.

Alright, so we've finally snagged all the Elemental Fangs and touched the light of all four Elemental Crystals. We've also unlocked pretty much every job in the game. You'd think we'd be ready for the final boss, right? Well, not quite! But we can get ourselves properly prepared by diving into some more sidequesting. The experience points you'll gain will be totally worth it, even if the gear isn't (unless you've got super high standards!). Let's get going! (Just a heads-up, this part is totally optional, so if you're itching to just beat the game, feel free to skip this and the next few sections.)

Our first side adventure is all about snagging the legendary Leviathan summon. You could go for Bahamut first, but he's a tougher fight, so it's a good idea to rack up as many levels as possible before you challenge him.

Hop back into the Invincible airship and head to the Floating Continent. It's located north of the Cave of Shadows. Once you're there, make your way to the northwestern part of the area. Look for a shadow swimming in the water just south of Gulgan Gulch.

To reach the lake where this shadow lurks, fly your airship in from the south. You'll need to go over some small mountains. Land your airship on the little grassy patch nearby and then head into the lake. With your trusty Folding Canoe, paddle around until you find the entrance to an underwater cavern.
