Pre-Labyrinth Requests

Complete walkthrough for the Pre-Labyrinth Requests in Etrian Odyssey Nexus, including 'Watching the Flock,' 'The Guardian of the Lake,' and 'Find the Missing Medic.'

Watching the Flock

We'd like to let the goats graze outside Maginia, but we're a bit wary of these unexplored lands. We would like an adventurer to escort us.
Reward: Nectar

The Guardian of the Lake

We discovered a source of water for civilians, but there's a huge fish guarding the lake. Please help us out of this predicament.

World Map

Once you are in the world map, a soldier will approach you, informing about how to clear the requests you just accepted. The first request can be cleared by heading north, and the second one is done by heading west. Let's do it.

Sunlit Meadow

Your first request is about finding a safe place for the goats, and it's done automatically. After a few A buttons the soldier tells you that one goat named Bighorn is missing. Select the third option Search the plentiful forest to find him but you need to fight through the first battle against two Rabid Koalas.

This is an easy fight; no special strategy is required. You can also use this battle to try some skills or even activate Force Boost or Force Break. The explanation will be given later. Once it's done, head south to the second area.

Springlead Plains

Your objective here is to clear any threat to get a safe source of water. Just select any option for both occasions to finally beat the giant fish in the lake (this is done in text, not in the real battle). With both quests are cleared, now move back to Maginia.

Maginia

Go to tavern and report both quests to obtain your rewards.

Your party members should reach level 2 after the bonus EXP. Now Kvasir gives you another request to find a missing person.

Find the Missing Medic

A Medic went out to gather herbs but hasn't returned. I'm worried about her. Could someone go to the Verdant Forest and see if she's alright?
Reward: 150 en

Accept the request and go to Inn to save your game. Don't forget to put the skill points you just obtained after level up. Go to world map and select Verdant Forest in the north of Sunlit Meadow. Here you'll suddenly hear a woman's scream. Select any option to defend her against two Muscle Flies.

Before the battle there is an explanation about Force Boost/Break. Now you know why you need to reserve your Force Boost/Break for the right time. Defeat them and a Medic named Birgitta will say thanks for helping her. After a few talks she notices that Laika is missing and asks for your help once again to find her. You can help her or ignore her. If you ignore her, she will beg to you and offer some money in return. At this point you can't leave her anymore, but there are two options whether to receive the money or not. If you do accept her money you'll get 39 en from her. I don't know if this action has a negative effect later, but I think you should just help her without taking her money; 39 en can be earned in the following labyrinth easily. Starting from this point she will accompany you as a guest, providing a health recovery after every battle (Medic's _Patch Up_ skill).
