Tips
- In Novice level, Guard Slash is the best skill, giving an 8-turn DEF debuff. Strength Slash offers an ATK debuff for fragile parties in Expert or above.
- War Magus has only two skills that inflict ailments: Random Disease and Displace. Their stats make ailment infliction unreliable, often requiring turns to fail before successful casts.
- To ensure debuffs from the start, rely on other classes like Ninja or Nightseeker for ailment infliction.
- DEF debuffs benefit high damage dealers like Ronin and Imperial.
- It is recommended to learn Random Disease and Guard Slash first.
- If War Magus is your main healer, learn War Heal and War Heal Line afterwards.
- Vampire is useful after raising Random Disease, but Displace is less useful early on.
- Continue upgrading Guard Slash to level 5, then upgrade Random Disease and Vampire, or War Heal and War Heal Line if needed.
- For parties without strong ailment infliction options or if War Magus is the primary healer, consider the build: War Heal (1) > Displace (1) > Random Disease (1) OR War Heal (2) > War Heal Line (1) > Displace (1) > Random Disease (1).
- Regardless of the path, obtain both Strength Slash (1) and Guard Slash (1). Use these in Force Boost state or if an ailment lands on an enemy. Reducing opponent's offensive stats is crucial for FOEs/Bosses.
- Early game War Edge skills (Strength and Guard Slashes) are good even without an ailment-focused party; use Force Boost to land debuffs for FOE/Boss battles.
- In random encounters, War Magus can act as a cut + almighty damage dealer if they have turns to attack.
- War Heal skills can help, and Vampire is useful with an ailment inflictor in the party. Random Disease is not highly recommended even when buffed.
- War Edge Master allows staff use for any sword skills and grants a damage bonus with a staff or TP bonus with a sword.
