Navigate the dangers of B1F Lethal Forest in Etrian Odyssey Nexus. Discover enemies, FOEs, gathering spots, and crucial items like Nectar and Ariadne Thread.
Once you set foot here, it's better to go back to the town and accept the requests unlocked by reaching B1F. Therefore, you can clear them while exploring this area. The solution of those requests will be put on the bottom of this page since it may give spoiler if they are put here.
One more note: before arriving at this floor, make sure to have an extra Nectar or Ariadne Thread to be used later.

After four steps forward you'll meet Marco and Oliver, members of an NPC guild. Select any option to answer Marco's question and both of them will accompany you for awhile.
Go left and open the door in E3, then walk north to find a trunk barricade. You can't do anything about it for now. Go to the southeast corner here to find a wooden box. It seems that you can put something and get something else next time. If you put Nectar or Ariadne Thread you can get some useful after waiting for the next day, otherwise you'll get nothing.
Return to the entrance and head east this time. Open the door an continue to the other door in D5. Turn right this time go south to find a gathering spot. There are three types of gathering spots in the game: Take, Chop and Mine. Check your party skills and some classes may learn either one of these gathering skills. If available, you should learn those skills in order to have a chance to obtain the rarest material available in that spot. For example, in this spot you can obtain Forest Aloe, Small Flower and Culantro. However, Culantro can only be obtained by learning _Take_ skill, so please keep that in your mind.
Head one step south to go through a crevice, and follow the path once again to the door in D5. Turn left this time to open the door to the south. After a few steps you'll find something on the ground. It seems like smashed trunk so there should be a big monster strong enough to destroy them. Continue to C3 and you'll meet the culprit.
Big monsters known as FOEs are treated as mini bosses of the game. FOEs aren't supposed to be fought during your first encounter, and by watching their pattern of movement you can slip past them. This time, Cutter shows up on the field. This creature will be alerted if you are 3 squares away from him, and then he'll always chase you no matter where you go, but if you lure him into a space next to a trunk barricade, he'll waste a turn to destroy it. He'll stop chasing you after you get out from that area, either by a door or shortcut, so keep that in your mind.
Move back to D3 and go clockwise / counterclockwise to let him destroy all three big trunks. Now go north to B3, find a taking point with Forest Aloe, Small Flower and Culantro, then reach up the northern shortcut in B4 to A4. You're safe for now.
Open up a chest to obtain Crownlock Staff as well as the same taking spot in the dead end. This weapon comes with a _Head Bind_ passive skill which is useful if you don't have someone who can inflict Head Bind yet. Return to the crevice and now take the eastern shortcut to continue.
Keep going east and check the dead end in the south to find something. This is the place where you'll clear Herbal Remedy request, so make sure to put a mark on it. If you already accepted the request like I told before, something will happen here. Return to the previous path and go east, open up another shortcut in C5, then continue to the door in C6.
There is another Cutter FOE in this zone, but you should already know you can move counterclockwise to find the next door. Follow the path to find a downstairs, but as soon as you approach it, a mortally wounded soldier is seen walking. Marco and Oliver decide to take him back to the Base Camp, so you'll part with them. Anyway, just go downstairs to unlock the next floor and then use an Ariadne Thread to teleport out. You may need to take some rest, as well as clear some requests in the town.

A Need for Nectar
I need an adventurer to take and deliver medicinal ingredients to me at Napier's Firm.
Reward: Nectar x3
Go to the shop and Napier will explain that she needs Culantro in order to make Nectar. This item is the rarest obtainable material at any taking point in Lush Woodlands B1F. Remember that you need someone who learns _Take_ in order to have a chance to obtain the material. Survivalist's _Natural Instinct_ or Farmer's _Harvestry_ can also activate. If you have obtained this item during your previous adventure, just sell the material to her and this request can be cleared immediately.
Adventure Result (EXP): 450
Herbal Remedy
I need special herbs to make a medicinal salve. You can find them quite easily: just look for Woodfly eggs in the Lush Woodlands.
