The Great Howl Event

Complete walkthrough for Death Howl's Realm of Piercing Winds. Learn how to navigate The Breathing Chasm, The Hidden Vale, and The Glacial Maw, and defeat Tradontoz.

Welcome to the second part of our walkthrough for Death Howl. After completing the first zone and defeating Cantharsis, the Great Spirit, we’ve managed to unlock the path to The Howling Mountain. However, Ro is still not strong enough to brave the dangers that await her in the mountain. On her quest to save her son, she must turn her gaze towards the Realm of Piercing Winds.

The Realm of Piercing Winds is split up into three zones: The Breathing Chasm, The Hidden Vale, and The Glacial Maw. You can enter the realm through either The Breathing Chasm or The Hidden Vale, both accessible via The Meadows of Delusions. This walkthrough will guide you through entering via The Breathing Chasm.

The Breathing Chasm

To unlock the map of this zone, you must first activate the first Sacred Grove. Head northeast from the northern Sacred Grove in the Meadows of Delusion. You'll encounter your first Spirit and then find a cave with crafting materials. Continue north to find and activate the Sacred Grove.

Reap or Weep Side Quest: Head northeast to a small empty section. A creature will ask you to retrieve his lost eyes. Find them in a hidden cave near the northwestern Sacred Grove. You'll need to pass two Elder Spirit encounters and can loot the Bear Skull Totem along the way. After getting the Reaping Eye from the cave (and defeating enemies that ambush you), return to the quest giver for the Opal Totem reward.

Two-Headed Spear Hidden Side Quest: Make your way to the third Sacred Grove in the southwest. Read the inscription on the rock about two pieces of a spear. Find the two Spear Head quest cards: one near the nest at the zone entrance, and the other below the northwestern Sacred Grove. In a battle, use one Spear Head card on your first turn, then combine it with the other to create the Two-Headed Spear. Complete the battle, return to the inscription rock, and interact to fall into a cave. Defeat the two enemies there to receive three Teardrop upgrade points.

The Hidden Vale

Return to the Sacred Grove in the southwest of The Breathing Chasm and head left to enter The Hidden Vale. Follow the lower path, defeating Spirits. Avoid the Elder Spirit encounter and continue left to find another Spirit encounter to the north. Beyond this, you'll find the Sacred Grove to reveal the map.

The Laughing Face of Death Side Quest: After resting at the Sacred Grove, the Spirit will jump off a cliff. Rest again, talk to it, and it will jump again. Rest a third time and exhaust the dialogues.
