Navigate the treacherous Realm of Piercing Winds in Death Howl. This guide covers The Breathing Chasm, The Hidden Vale, and The Glacial Maw, including side quests and boss strategies.

Welcome to the second part of our walkthrough for Death Howl. After completing the first zone and defeating Cantharsis, the Great Spirit, we’ve managed to unlock the path to The Howling Mountain. However, Ro is still not strong enough to brave the dangers that await her in the mountain. On her quest to save her son, she must turn her gaze towards the Realm of Piercing Winds.

The Realm of Piercing Winds is split up into three zones: The Breathing Chasm, The Hidden Vale, and The Glacial Maw. You can enter the realm through either The Breathing Chasm or The Hidden Vale, both accessible via The Meadows of Delusions. This walkthrough will guide you through entering via The Breathing Chasm.

The Breathing Chasm

To unlock the map of this region, you must first activate the first Sacred Grove. Head east to encounter your first Spirit. It's recommended to grind some Death Howl before entering this zone to unlock cards and Teardrop upgrades. After defeating the Spirits, continue north to find a cave with crafting materials. Activate the Sacred Grove northeast of your starting point to reveal the map.

Reap or Weep Side Quest

Head northeast to a small empty section to find a large creature. Exhaust his dialogues, and he will ask you to retrieve his lost eyes, triggering the Reap or Weep side quest. The eyes are in a hidden cave near the northwestern Sacred Grove. Take the upper path, passing two Elder Spirit encounters and looting a nest for the Bear Skull Totem. Speak to the Moose spirit near the northwestern Sacred Grove for a free Teardrop point. Follow the passage next to the Moose, find the cave entrance, and collect the Reaping Eye. After defeating an ambush inside the cave, return to the quest giver to complete the quest and receive the Opal Totem.

Two-Headed Spear Hidden Side Quest

Make your way to the third Sacred Grove in the southwest part of the map. Read the inscription on the rock nearby about two pieces of a spear. Find the two Spear Head quest cards: one near the nest at the zone's entrance from The Meadows of Delusion, and the other below the northwestern Sacred Grove. During a battle, use one Spear Head, then combine it with the other to create the Two-Headed Spear. Complete the battle, return to the inscribed rock, and interact with it to enter a cave. Defeat the two enemies encountered here to be transported back outside, completing the quest and earning three Teardrop upgrade points.

The Hidden Vale

Unlocking the First Sacred Grove and Map

Return to the Sacred Grove in the southwest section of The Breathing Chasm and head left to enter The Hidden Vale. Follow the lower path, defeating the initial Spirits. Continue past an Elder Spirit encounter and defeat a smaller group of Spirits to the north. The Sacred Grove is just beyond this encounter, next to a fallen Spirit. Activate it to reveal the map.

The Laughing Face of Death Side Quest

After resting at the Sacred Grove, the Spirit will jump off a cliff. Rest again, and when it revives, talk to it. It will jump off again. Rest a third time, exhaust the dialogues, and the Spirit...
