This section of the guide details how to find Bench Location #3 in Dead Space 2. You'll be upgrading the Plasma Cutter and navigating through areas similar to the gift shop, facing Necromorphs and Infectors.

Walkthrough:

  1. From your current location, head back towards the main objective. Stomp on corpses for loot and enter the nearby door to find an audio log titled "Harsh Pressure".
  2. Ascend the stairs and proceed through the door. In the upper walkway, shoot an Infector attempting to turn a corpse.
  3. A Necromorph will emerge from below, followed by another Infector. Deal with the first wave of enemies.
  4. A second wave will appear as you move down: a Necromorph and an Infector. Prioritize killing the first Necromorph quickly and use stasis on the Infector and remaining Necromorph to manage them. Avoid retreating upstairs as a Spitter will appear there.
  5. After clearing the enemies, collect loot and head for the center cargo lift. Take it up one level and go through the next door.
  6. You have two options: go through the door directly ahead or break a fuse to open a door to your right. The door to the right leads back to the starting area for saving/shopping. Choose to go into indoctrination to continue.
  7. Watch the indoctrination video if desired. Enter the door on your right to find goodies in green boxes and a text log titled "Recruit Test Results".
  8. Locate the panel near the door, pull it off, and examine the diagram of the doors. The door you entered is green, and the one ahead is red. You need to power the red door.
  9. Find the power source near the seat with the dead lady. Pull off the cover, extract the power source, and insert it into the door power receptacle.
  10. Exit this room, but be prepared for three Unitology Necromorphs to drop down. Shoot the glass behind them to eject them into space, or use stasis to deal with them.
