How to Get the Costly Punch Materia in Crisis Core Reunion

The most effective method to acquire the Costly Punch Materia in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is through Materia Fusion, which becomes available in Chapter 3. While fusion unlocks later, you can obtain Costly Punch as early as Chapter 2 by completing specific missions to unlock the necessary components.

The simplest Materia Fusion recipe for Costly Punch is: Any Punch Materia + Any DMW Materia.

To obtain the required DMW Materia, you need to complete enough Missions to achieve the 30% Mission Completion reward, which grants the Rush Assault DMW Materia. This Materia is crucial for high-level fusion recipes, so use it wisely.

For the Punch Materia component, you can acquire Goblin Punch in Chapter 2 by progressing through missions. Follow these steps:

1. Access the first Save Point in Chapter 2.
2. Complete Missions 4-1-1 through 4-1-6 to unlock sub-category M4-2.
3. Complete Missions 4-2-1 through 4-2-6 to unlock sub-category M4-4 and the Wutai Secret Shop.
4. Complete Missions 4-4-1 through 4-4-6 to unlock sub-category M4-5.
5. Complete Missions 4-5-1 through 4-5-4. Mission 4-5-4 rewards you with the Goblin Punch Materia.

Note that Mission M-5-4 is a Rank 8 Mission, requiring you to power up sufficiently as you complete earlier missions. Most available missions must be completed to reach the 30% completion reward anyway, which will naturally increase your power level.
