Learn how to acquire and utilize Corrupted Attributes and Perks in Conan Exiles. Understand corruption mechanics, Soul Essence, and which attributes can be corrupted.
Corrupted Perks in Conan Exiles offer some of the most potent buffs available, functioning similarly to regular attribute perks. As you invest points into a specific attribute, you unlock new corrupted perks. The key differences are that corrupted perks are fixed for each attribute, and you can only invest in them up to the level of your regular attribute points. For instance, to access Strength corrupted perks, you must first invest at least five points into Strength. Meeting the required conditions also necessitates a high level of corruption and a supply of Soul Essence, with corruption being the prerequisite and Soul Essence acting as the currency for investment.
It's important to note that investing in corrupted perks replaces the effects of regular perks. You need at least a 40% corruption level to begin investing. This corruption is initially temporary, but each point invested into an attribute adds 2.5% permanent corruption. The maximum permanent corruption you can acquire is capped at 50%, meaning you'll lose at most half your health and stamina, even when investing in all corrupted perks across Strength, Vitality, and Authority. Combining these perks can lead to incredibly powerful builds that mitigate health and stamina loss, depending on your playstyle.
If you wish to remove corruption, you must reset all your attribute points, which will also remove access to associated corrupted perks. Re-maxing them later will require at least 60 Soul Essences.
As of the Age of War update, only three attributes can be corrupted: Strength, Vitality, and Authority. There are no current plans to introduce corrupted perks for Agility, Grit, or Expertise, which may be beneficial for PvP players as corrupted perks can already make a player significantly overpowered.
How to Gain Corruption
To begin using corrupted perks, you first need to gain at least 40% corruption. This can be achieved in three ways:
Equip Corrupted Items
Equipping items that provide corruption by default is a straightforward method. The Heartpiercer bow, for example, grants 50% corruption instantly upon equipping. This corruption remains even after unequipping the item unless a Cleansing Brew is used.
Explore Corrupted Areas
Spending extended periods in corrupted areas also grants corruption. The Unnamed City, particularly as you approach its central citadel, is an early-game area where you can accumulate corruption. Staying in these areas typically grants one point of corruption every five seconds until you reach the 40% threshold.
Consume a Corrupting Brew
Using a Corrupting Brew, crafted with Purified Water, Demon Blood, and Yellow Lotus Blossom, provides approximately 1% corruption per brew. While more resource-intensive and time-consuming, this method allows for precise corruption gain from the safety of your base.
How to Get Soul Essences
Once you have sufficient corruption, the next requirement is Soul Essence. These can sometimes be looted from the cor
