How the Purge Works in Chapter 2: In Conan Exiles

In Conan Exiles Chapter 2, you gain full control over when and where Purges occur. Instead of random spawns, Purges are triggered by proclaiming your wealth using a Clan Coffer (also known as a Treasure Coffer). To craft a Clan Coffer, you need 20 Shaped Wood and 5 Iron Reinforcement pieces. Once built, you can interact with a treasurer to organize your hoarded treasure and initiate a Purge.

Where to Build Treasure Coffers:

The ideal location for your Clan Coffer is within a highly protected area of your base. Ensure your base is difficult to penetrate by using robust materials like reinforced stone, black ice, or storm glass, and opt for heavy reinforced doors over standard wooden ones. Supplement your base's structure with palisades, spikes, and armored walls, particularly around weaker entry points like doors. These defenses will engage attacking forces, especially at higher threat levels with diverse enemy types.

You can view your treasure hoard's basic stats by speaking with the treasurer. When ready, proclaim your wealth using the Clan Coffer to trigger a Purge.

Threat Level Tiers Explained:

The new Purge system in Chapter 2 is centered around threat levels, which directly correlate with the amount of treasure you have hoarded. There are 10 threat tiers, each representing a different level of wealth. The thresholds are as follows:

Accumulating treasure for higher tiers can take time, allowing you to gradually face escalating Purge forces. You can choose to face Purges as you reach each tier or save up to confront the most difficult Purge at level 10. No Purge will begin until you proclaim your wealth via the treasurer at the Clan Coffer.

While speaking with the treasurer, you can check your treasure's status, including types, quantities, individual values, and the total combined value. Your current threat level tier is also displayed in the bottom right of the Clan Coffer screen.

How to Get Treasure for Your Clan Coffer:

Not all items found in the world count as treasure. Specific items, primarily gold, silver, and decorative items, contribute to your hoard. These can be found through looting or crafted. The following table lists known treasure types up to Chapter 2 (Age of War):

Decorative treasures must be placed physically around the treasurer, while 'Inventory' treasures can be given to the treasurer by placing them in the adjacent chest, saving inventory space. Decorative items generally have higher values, reflecting their display of wealth. Sources are categorized as 'Looted' (found in the open world, camps, or dungeons), 'Crafted' (player-made), or 'Both'.
