Richter Belmont is a key figure in the Belmont clan, a lineage of dedicated vampire hunters. He is described as a hot-blooded youth who wields the legendary sacred whip, a weapon passed down through many of his predecessors. Richter's strength and determination were so great that he pushed Dracula to the brink and ultimately defeated him in a massive battle five years prior to the events of the game. Despite his victory and an almost indestructible will to survive, Richter has been mysteriously missing for a year, vanishing under the light of a full moon.
