Navigate the Laboratory in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood! Learn enemy patterns for Bitterflies and Gremlins, and master the Beelzebub boss fight strategy to claim your rewards.
Alright, we're back in the Laboratory area. After you leave that red door, you'll want to drop down and make your way counter-clockwise around the room. Keep an eye out for some annoying Bitterflies here. They're invisible most of the time, but they do pop into view every so often. There's actually one right below you when you first drop down. Up in the top right corner of this room, you'll spot a glass orb containing a Turquoise. Once you've had your fill of this room, head through the door on the right.
The next area is a pretty narrow hallway, and it's crawling with Gremlins. Just push through them and keep moving.
The room after that has a save point on the middle left. The top left path leads to an area we've already explored, so don't worry about that. Instead, go through the door on the top left to connect this part of the map with the section we've already covered.
Now, the room to your right is actually the boss room where we faced Slogra and Gaibon earlier in the normal castle. Yep, there's another boss waiting for us in here. This one drops an item that'll help us equip the Topaz Circlet. It works a lot like the Beryl Circlet we used against Galamoth – it heals you when you take poison damage.
BEELZEBUB
This is our boss fight: Beelzebub. Honestly, I don't want to hype this up too much, but this battle is pretty straightforward. You'll find Beelzebub just hanging out in the center of the room, looking like he's standing thanks to some meat hooks. He doesn't attack directly; instead, he's got these Bee servants that keep respawning. You can't really get rid of them permanently. They'll fly around him for a bit, then all swarm straight at you in a dive bomb. If they hit you, you'll take damage. The real poison hazard is on the floor beneath Beelzebub – there are worms that will poison Alucard if you step on them. This is where that Topaz Circlet comes in handy, giving you a nice 5 HP back per hit. There are usually a few worms hanging around, so you can rack up some healing.
The main strategy here is to attack Beelzebub's limbs – his legs, thighs, and torso are the easiest targets. You'll need to use the Gas Cloud transformation to deal with the bees when they swarm. Once you're clear, transform back and go to town on him with Alucard. Using the Gravity Jump to get up to his head is also an option, but be careful – it makes you more vulnerable to the bees if they're flying around him. Once you've dealt with Beelzebub, make sure to grab the Life Max Up!
After you've defeated Beelzebub, stick around in the boss room. Head to the bottom left corner, and in that single room, you'll find the Ring of Arcana. This is a fantastic item! If you didn't know, most enemies in the game (except bosses) have two types of drops: a common one, which is usually something you can buy or find elsewhere, and a rare drop that's significantly better. Higher-level enemies tend to drop better rare items. This Ring of Arcana will boost your chances of seeing these rare drops. If you're currently using the Mystic Pendant and Moonstone, I'd recommend swapping the Pendant out for this ring.
Now, leave that room and make sure you've got the map coverage for the boss room. By connecting these areas, we've now linked up both parts of the Laboratory. It's time to head back to the Marble Gallery, the area we just came from. You'll want to return to the room with the two Gorgons and the Jack O' Bones.
