Alright, let's talk about the Whiteclad Noble. He's a pretty interesting boss you'll encounter, and understanding his moves is key to taking him down. ## Location You'll find the Whiteclad Noble after heading through Black Wind Mountain and the Bamboo Grove. From the "Marsh of White Mist" shrine, just keep going straight until you reach a large open water area. That's where he'll be waiting. After you defeat him, he'll drop a Jade Fang. Keep an eye out on his left, within the valley, for a third bell. Ringing this bell unlocks a hidden level, the Ancient Guanyin Temple. If you can beat Elder Jinchi there, you'll get the Fireproof Mantle. ## Behavior The Whiteclad Noble primarily uses his spear. He's got a mix of powerful strikes, thrusts, and combos. What makes him tricky is how he uses the water around him to extend his spear's range with water-powered arc slashes and shockwaves. He can even throw his spear and then follow up with another combo! Watch out for Phase 2! He'll transform into a half-snake form, becoming much faster and more agile. His water-enhanced spear attacks get even more aggressive. Plus, if you don't defeat him quickly enough, he can actually heal himself in the water. So, stay on the offensive! ## Background This guy is a Yaoguai King, and it turns out he's not the original Whiteclad Noble who served the Black Bear Guai. He's actually one of Erlang Shen's sworn brothers. The lore around him is quite deep, involving a conversation with an old wolf about life, death, and schemes. It hints at his connection to powerful magic and the Buddhas. ## Journey to the West In the classic tale, the White Snake Guai was friends with Lingxuzi and the Black Bear Guai. When the Black Bear Guai stole the Tang Monk's golden kasaya, Sun Wukong was sent to retrieve it. During this, the White Snake Guai, Lingxuzi, and the Black Bear Guai were attacked. While Lingxuzi and Black Bear Guai escaped, the White Snake Guai was killed. ## Trivia Interestingly, his second phase was originally planned to be a much more monstrous snake form.
