Explore World of Warcraft Rogue talent trees: Assassination for burst damage, Combat for DPS and avoidance, and Subtlety for PvP. Learn essential talents.

Assassination: This tree is for players aiming to maximize critical strikes and burst damage. The Malice talent improves critical strike chance from the start. Beyond that, the focus is on the Mutilate ability, which you will spam along with your other cooldowns. This build requires two daggers. It becomes less effective in PvP due to resilience.

Combat: This tree aids in fighting and damage avoidance. Your primary ability is Sinister Strike, with Killing Spree used whenever available. Blade Flurry, Adrenaline Rush, and Slice N Dice are key abilities to significantly boost your damage per second (DPS). Sword Specialization should always be picked up and planned for future use. It's also viable to go to Killing Spree and then halfway into Subtlety for PvP.

Subtlety: This tree is purely for PvP, offering numerous crowd control (CC) abilities. It is a good option for level 80 characters who can dual-spec. Energy and critical strikes are less crucial in PvP; the main focus is using cooldowns to close the distance to spellcasting opponents (clothies). Multiple uses of Vanish and Shadow Dance will make you more effective in PvP. As a PvE option, it is not ideal (especially with an upcoming patch), but it can be adequate for leveling and questing.

Essential Talents: All Rogues need the critical strike talent from Assassination, the off-hand weapon damage increase from Combat, and Relentless Strikes from Subtlety. These are all found in the first tier of their respective trees.
