Raiding is the ultimate end-game challenge in World of Warcraft, but don't worry, it's not the only thing to do! It's just the most advanced content available.

To get started in a raid, you'll need a group of either 10 or 25 players. The normal difficulty raids are for 10 players, while the more challenging heroic versions are for 25. You'll also need some serious gear – mostly purple (epic quality) items. This gear can come from gaining reputation with various factions, buying it from the Auction House, or as drops from heroic dungeons. Generally, PvP gear isn't very useful in raids, with maybe a single exception.

Raids operate on a weekly reset schedule, running from Tuesday to Tuesday. This means you get a full week to tackle the raid bosses with a single raid identification (ID). You can check your in-game calendar for specific reset times.

It's important to know that you can run both 10-player and 25-player raids within the same week, as they use separate raid IDs. While 10-man raids offer good loot, the 25-man versions typically drop even better gear. If you don't happen to get the specific item you're looking for, don't fret! There are also tokens available that you can roll on, which you then turn in at Dalaran for specific pieces of equipment.
